In this comic I’m questioning whether a diagnosis and a label is helpful for newly breastfeeding moms, or whether they might be better served by hearing that there are lots of breastfeeding behaviors that are normal and don’t even need a diagnosis, a label, or a cure. Like cluster feeding, which I was told by a new mom sounds really not pleasant. Yes, I agree. Who wants to hear that their new wonderous baby is doing something wrong? Let’s talk about what’s right, your baby is feeding a lot to build up the milk supply. Your baby is building up your milk supply so that it can nurse successfully for a year or more. Your baby is not just getting nutrients, but comfort, love, security. Cluster feeding, grrrrrrrrrrr. (I know I’m speaking to the choir ;o) ……
